“I’ve never been above a size 8 but lack of exercise and comfort eating meant I suddenly found myself a size 16, and I knew I had to do something about it.

The extra weight was making it hard to fit into my clothes, as it sat on my hips and tops of thighs – right around the waistband. I’ve had to wear jogging bottoms for the last few years and I even stopped going out so much because I’d lost my confidence.

I’ve had medical ultrasound before but I still wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the LoveLipo process. I was surprised at how relaxing the treatment was, and how lovely the staff were. It’s a really enjoyable, relaxing experience.

Most girls I know would gladly sell their souls in return for a miraculous slimming machine.

But, as I discovered this week, there is no need to go to such extremes to achieve a more streamlined figure.

Forget violent-looking, expensive liposuction – there is an incredibly gentler, cheaper way to bust that flab, and it’s available right here in Orpington.

LoveLipo is a revolutionary, non-surgical alternative to going under the knife.

Using ultrasound technology, the waves blast fat cells until they explode and melt away, leaving the body through the lymphatic system after treatment.

I became the first lucky lady to receive the new treatment at Ladyzone gym – and it was certainly an incredible experience.

Admittedly, I hate the idea of getting even semi-naked in front of other people, and the thought of becoming pregnant terrifies me beyond words.

So, the mixture of getting topless (I kept my bra on) and getting gel squirted over my stomach, ready for an ultrasound, was my idea of hell.

But my professional and friendly therapist couldn’t have made me feel more comfortable – and for that I am forever grateful.

The treatment is completely painless, and involves your therapist massaging your chosen area with the machine for 15 minutes.

Typically, people choose to target hips, thighs, bums and tummies.

I asked for my stomach to be worked on in an attempt to rid myself of that wretched muffin top.

As Manon got going, I felt completely relaxed – save for a loud noise clicking on and off in my ears.

It sounded like crickets were having a party with a dolphin in my head, and bizarrely the noise is only audible by the person receiving treatment.

It’s the result of the vibrations running through your body to blast the fatty cells, and proves none of the energy from the ultrasound is wasted.

Candidates are encouraged to undergo between four and six sessions of the treatment to see the best results, going up to twice a week.

Manon also instructed me to drink plenty of water, avoid carbohydrates and booze for at least three days after each session, and to follow an exercise plan at Ladyzone up to five times a week.

Although exercise afterwards is optional, with free membership at Ladyzone, the recommendation will help get the best from the treatment..

Manon took my measurements before and after my first session on and, just like magic, I had lost 1.4ins from all over my stomach.

Meet Sabrina, our Altrincham therapist and talented cake-maker!

Sabrina lives in Altrincham with her husband of two years and 13 month old daughter, Chloe. Aged 27, she has been in the beauty industry since starting her studies aged 16, and has been working for LoveLipo since July.

She said: “I always knew I wanted to work in the beauty industry and during a brief dabble in the world of accountancy, I missed the industry so much that I couldn’t come back to it fast enough!”

‘Lose a bit of weight’ is something many of us set at the top of our New Year’s Resolutions lists, up there with ‘eat more healthily’ and ‘exercise more’. Kate Houghton writes.

Often these promises fall away when real life kicks in again, but at Ladyzone in Altrincham there’s a very simply way to achieving your goals – it’s called LoveLipo, and it works.

LoveLipo uses ultrasonic technology to sculpt the figure by removing hard to shift pockets of fat stored around our body. Research has shown that dieting and exercise can slim and tone, by reducing the size of the fat cells in the body and tightening muscles. However, the actual number of fat cells stays the same, so to rid yourself of those last inches, you need to rid yourself of the fat cells.

With LoveLipo, fat cells are permanently destroyed; during the treatment ultrasonic waves burst the fat cell membranes, effectively ‘melting’ the fat. The contents pass through the lymphatic system and are flushed away.

The process works most effectively when you support it by drinking plenty of water (to keep the lymphatic system working to its optimum level), cutting out carbs (especially those wholly useless ones like sugar, bread and pasta) for 72 hours from each treatment, and firing up the metabolism by doing a spot of exercise after each treatment.

Combined, these measures work to enhance the effect of each LoveLipo treatment, so you can see your measurements change with each session. I lost a full inch and a half from my tummy. As a size 12, I’m not exactly overweight, but those last couple of baby related inches have proven almost impossible to shift, until now.

The whole experience is simply excellent. The staff are all well-trained and knowledgeable, no false promises are made and if they feel additional advice on diet or exercise will enhance the results, they offer it. It’s really just a matter of relaxing on the treatment bed in the smart and comfortable LoveLipo room while your therapist runs the handpiece over your chosen fat loss area. She uses some pressure, and I found myself tensing my stomach muscles, but it’s not remotely uncomfortable – and if like me you’re a chatty one, the 20 minute treatment simply flies by! For those with loose skin or stretch marks you can enjoy an additional 15 minute treatment, BodySpa, which has quite astonishing results, tightening the skin and restoring long lost tone.

My advice – get yourself along there now, and start make those changes you’ve long promised yourself!
